Nicholas Davis celebrates the new location of Genesee Valley Media at Business Afterhours. |
Based on the second floor of the former church, the new location not only offers a base of operations for the media company, but also offers a place where local artists and musicians can rent space to produce their own creative projects.
“My hope is for people just starting out to have a place and the equipment they need to create their own projects,” Davis explained.
The new digs offer three separate studios for rent on an hourly basis. The studios are equipped with the up to date equipment to help give projects a polished look. There is a studio in which to shoot video, another for still photography and yet another for recording. Each has proper lighting and sound equipment available along with the expertise of Davis’s helpers – production and media students from Alfred State College. Drone services are also available.
Genesee Valley Media’s main attraction is the services it provides for area businesses and entrepreneurs.
“We create videos and commercials to advertise businesses and services,” Davis said. “If a picture is worth a thousand words than a video is worth 10,000 words,” he said explaining that in today’s world to reach customers businesses often have to go beyond wordy advertisements and use video commercials to get the word out about their products.
Some of Genesee Valley Media’s most recent work can be seen in the flyover video it recently put together for the county tourism department’s Western NY Wilds campaign. They have also created videos for Walker Metalsmiths and Alfred University and local startups.
Davis is a 2007 graduate of Scio Central School where he learned his skills in video production. “They created a special video class for students who were interested in learning about video production,” he said.
Al Mosher, executive director of the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce commented, “Nick (Davis) is a hardworking guy and is doing a lot of great things for area businesses. And I think that we are going to see a lot of greater things out of him.”
