Suggestions were made...history was reviewed...concerns expressed...and after a prolonged discussion of parking issues regarding the Municipal Parking Lot off Madison Street (the old Super Duper lot), no formal decisions were made during Monday night's village board meeting. Police Chief Tim O'Grady told the Board he has been receiving steady complaints about parking issues there...and in a light-hearted moment said...words to the effect...I don't care what you decide, but make a decision soon.
The issue-
At some point in time, nobody really knows when, the decision was made to provide 17 permit parking spaces that would provide rental tenants a reserved parking spot. The tenants reside in Main Street and Eaton Court rental units...and they need a place to park during the winter (primarily) because of the village's ban on parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. on public streets.
After an exhaustive discussion, the village board postponed any formal action while more research is done. Other than the reserved spaces, there is a general prohibition on parking from 2-6 a.m. in the rest of the lot. That restriction allows DPW crews to plow the lot during the winter season. The police chief said he would add language to a local law, which will be reviewed again in two weeks. To be continued...
