The SPCA needs some help to make its annual SPCA Howliday Cookies and Crafts and Pet Pics with Santa from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wellsville elementary school successful.
Cookies and baked goods are needed.
SPCA President Lynda Pruski said, “The SPCA welcomes all bakers who would like to bake and donate a few dozen of your favorite holiday cookies, candies, breads or other holiday treats. One of the problems we have had over the past few years is that more and more people are not baking as much, so we have not had as many donations of cookies as we have had in the past. We are working very diligently this year to recruit some new people to bake from around the county.”
If you would like to donate call the shelter at 585-593-2200, Facebook message or email SPCAallegany@gmail.com,.
The cookie sale and photo with Santa is very important to the continuing support of the local SPCA shelter and usually raises around $3,000 to be used for the care of the animals according to Pruski.
This is the final SPCA fundraiser for the year and with the new shelter opened, it I more important than ever.
“As of November 30th., we have brought in 915 animals. And we have adopted out 751 animals which is a huge change for us. But we are happy that we’re able to help so many more in need,” Pruski said.
All pets are welcome for the photos with Santa and visitors are invited to browse among the more than 30 vendors who will be selling everything from goodies for dogs and cats to special items for the rest of the family.
