ALFRED, NY – Jane Herndon, manager of Environmental Programs for the Aviation Department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, will speak at next week’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series, scheduled for 12:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in Roon Lecture Hall, Science Center, on the Alfred University campus.
Herndon will give a presentation titled “Environmental Issues at Airports.”
In her role with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Herndon assists the Port Authority’s five airports – John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty International, Teterboro, and Stewart New York International – with compliance with environmental laws and obtaining state and federal environmental approvals for new airport development projects.
Herndon also assists in the development and implementation of policies that promote sustainable operations and leads the Port Authority’s efforts to address aircraft-related noise at the five airports.
