The ACCORD Allegany Business Center would like to
congratulate Lisa Hitchcock of Rescue Pups for winning the Fall 2018 ALCO
Business Plan Competition and the $1,000 ALCO Grand Prize. On November 13th,
2018, the ACCORD Small Business Assistance Program concluded its 10-week
Entrepreneur Training Program with the ALCO-sponsored Business Plan
Competition. Throughout the course of the 60-hour class, participants worked on
building a formal business plan for their ventures with the goal of having a
living document they can follow as their companies grow and update as
necessary. Thanks to a generous sponsorship from the ALCO Federal Credit Union,
participants were able to finish the program by presenting their plans and
businesses in front of three judges for the chance to win $1,000. Each business
was graded on both the written plan and oral presentation. If interested in
adopting a new companion or if you’d like to volunteer/donate, Rescue Pups can
be found online at https://rescuepups.org, on Facebook at http://www.Facebook.com/RescuePup585,
and locally in Friendship, NY.
Thank you to all that participated in the class and in the
competition, our judges this fall: Jeff Stager of ACCORD, Angela McKay of
Allegany County’s Department of Planning, and Michael Miller of ALCO, and a big
thank you to ALCO Federal Credit Union for sponsoring this season’s
competition. For more information on this local credit union, please visit
their website at www.ALCOFCU.com or stop into one of their four locations in
Wellsville, Cuba, Belmont, or Friendship.
ACCORD’s next entrepreneur training class is currently
planned to be an “express” class, likely spanning 5 weeks, and is expected to
begin in late February or early March 2019. If interested in enrolling, please
