Wyoming County deputies file charges in September crash

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office investigated a three car injury motor vehicle collision which occurred at the intersection State Route 238 and State Route 20-A in the town of Orangeville on September 29th at 1:21 a.m. According to a press release, a 2013 Chevrolet Volt (Vehicle 1) was southbound on NYS Route 238 and approaching the intersection of NYS Route 20-A. The Volt then collided with another vehicle (Vehicle 2) that was stopped in traffic at the intersection.  The collision sent these vehicles into vehicle 3 that was stopped at the intersection. The driver of the at-fault vehicle fled the scene on foot prior to law enforcement arrival, leaving his vehicle behind.  After an investigation by Deputy Sampson it was found that the driver of the suspect vehicle was allegedly Lance Bannister, 51, of Gainesville. Two people were transported by ambulance to the Warsaw County Community Hospital for injuries. A third person was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC.  Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw Fire Department, Varysburg Fire Department, Attica Fire Department, Ott’s Towing, and Karson’s Towing assisted at the scene. Lance Bannister turned himself the next day and was subsequently charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Reckless Driving, Following too Closely, Speed Unreasonable or Prudent, and Leaving Refuse on a Highway.
