Is the town of Scio in turmoil? Town board taking hits with resignations, sharp words

It is unclear just how stable the town of Scio local government is at the moment. Two town board members have resigned in recent  months. A slim legal majority remains to conduct business. The council departures were preceded by the resignation of the town clerk not long ago. All three resignations indicate an apparent unhappiness with the town government. Town council member Henry "Pete" Farwell resigned in June saying "there was no reason for my attendance." Board member and deputy supervisor Wrexie Ames tendered her resignation, effective September 12th, saying in a letter that "you got your wish and got rid of the old lady." Both letters have been posted below. As best Wellsville Regional News can tell, those remaining to govern include Supervisor Kim Demick and town board members Crystal Wiech and Jennifer Goodridge (according to recent meeting minutes).
Now, voters will step up on November 6th.
Farwell's term was to end in 2021. Two people are seeking election to the seat. Kyle Spier is running on the Republican and Independent lines. Howard Hinkle is running on the "Howard for Councilman" line. As for the Ames spot, which was set to expire next year, voters will choose between Democrat Matthew J. Ryan and Republican John Ramsey.
