The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of Antonio L. Campbell, age 44 with no home address, a convicted felon formerly of Missouri and Illinois, following a residential burglary and K9 search for the suspect on Route 98 in the Town of Java.

On May 10, 2024, at approximately 12:34pm, Wyoming County Deputy Sheriffs responded to Route 98 in the Town of Java for the report of a female resident who had returned home and found an intruder inside. The complainant had located a male suspect inside her residence, and when approached, the male suspect fled into the woods. A search was conducted by deputies, and a K9 was requested to the scene. Batavia Police Department K9 Batu with his handler responded to the scene. K9 Batu was deployed, followed the scent of the suspect, and ultimately located the male suspect inside a barn at a neighboring property. The male suspect was called out of the barn by deputies, at which time he complied and was taken into custody without incident.

The male suspect was identified as Antonio L. Campbell. Campbell was charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C Violent Felony, and Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor. Campbell was arraigned in Warsaw Town Court where bail was set at $2,500.00 cash, $5,000.00 bond, or $10,000.00 partially secured bond. Campbell remains in custody in the Wyoming County Jail awaiting further court appearances.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Batavia Police Department’s K9 Batu, Wyoming County Emergency Services Drone, and New York State Police.
