Dear Alfred University alumni, parents, and friends,
Beginning this week, Alfred University is resuming extracurricular activities, albeit with restrictions aimed at promoting a safe campus environment.
Athletic team practices have resumed for groups of no more than 10 people; full team practices are not permitted at this point. In addition, physical contact in practices is not permitted and appropriate social distancing and masks are required. Practices should take place outdoors whenever possible. When they are held inside, they are restricted to no more than 60 minutes and must involve no more than 10 people.
Strength and conditioning sessions may take place outdoors with 12 feet of space between individuals and with sessions limited to 10 or fewer people.
Workouts in the varsity weight room are permitted but at reduced capacity and for no more than 60 minutes. Masks and social distancing are required.
Our Gibbs Fitness Center and McLane Center swimming pool have reopened subject to certain guidelines outlined here and with the following restrictions:

Current Alfred University students, faculty, and staff can make reservations through the Signup Genius app. Users can sign up for one 45-minute slot per day to allow for proper sanitation of all equipment. Masks are required.
- The swimming pool in the McLane Center has reopened for lap swimming by current Alfred University students, faculty, and staff. Be prepared to show student, faculty, or staff ID.
- The pool is open on weekdays 11:15 a.m.-noon, 12:15-1 p.m., 8-8:45 p.m., and 9-9:45 p.m.; and on weekends 3-3:45 p.m. and 4-4:45 p.m. To use the pool you must reserve a lane through Signup Genius.
Our Office of Student Activities can organize in-person gatherings for groups of no more than 10 individuals and lasting no more than 60 minutes if the gathering is inside. It is suggested that activities are held outdoors whenever possible. Trips that require vehicle travel are limited to locations that total an hour or less in the vehicle and the vehicle must be limited to one-half capacity. Masks and social distancing continue to be required.
Our Equestrian Center plans is resuming activities with some restrictions. Our horse care program is restarting this week and practices will resume next week with a limit of five riders at a time. Masks are required.
