Beef Quality Assurance Transportation

On Friday, February 21, 2020 Empire Livestock Marketing and Cornell Cooperative Extension will be sponsoring a Beef Quality Assurance Transportation (BQAT) workshop.  The program will be held from 6-9 PM at the Empire Livestock auction barn 7418 Route 415 North Bath, NY 14810. 
 
BQAT plays a critical role in the health and welfare of cattle. When a transporter participates in the program they are showing consumers they are ready to take every step possible to keep cattle as healthy and safe as possible. Topic to be covered: principles of stockmanship, biosecurity, fitness for transport and emergency management. NYS Trooper and Department of Transportation representatives will discuss registration requirements for different classes of vehicles, definition of “covered farm vehicle”, conditions when a CDL is required, log book, hours of service, etc.

The Beef Quality Assurance Transportation workshop is one of many programs offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County (CCE-Allegany).
