Almond trucker charged in serious vehicle crash in Wyoming County

Wyoming County Deputies responded this week to State Route 19A in the Town of Castile for the report of a tractor trailer and passenger car motor vehicle crash. Rodney J. Wilcox, 48, of Almond was operating a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer while traveling south on State Route 19A. According to a press release he failed to maintain his lane of travel, entering the north bound lane and struck a car.  Three occupants in the car were temporarily entrapped inside the vehicle.  Castile along with Silver Springs rescue and fire utilized their jaws of life to cut away the vehicle’s roof to remove the occupants. The driver of the vehicle was removed from the scene by Medic 80 to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The two other passengers were removed by Castile ambulance to the Wyoming County Community Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.  Wilcox was uninjured in the accident, and he was issued a traffic summons for failure to keep right. The crash remains under investigation, and further charges are pending.
