Livingston County Sheriff issues Travel Advisory

LIVINGSTON COUNTY- Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty has issued a travel advisory
for Livingston County effective immediately on December 1st.  The advisory will stay in place until further notice.

The travel advisory is a level 1 event of the Livingston County Sheriff’s
travel related advisories or restrictions.  The level 1 event does NOT
mandate or prevent the motoring public from utilizing roadways but instead
advises that caution is advised due to hazardous conditions you may
encounter.

The advisory is due to black ice conditions that Deputy Sheriffs are encountering on the roadways presently. The forecast is also calling for snow accumulations which will make a dangerous mix.

The large majority of the crashes and vehicles going off the road are
caused by operators driving too fast for the conditions and outside of their ability. Deputy Sheriffs will be issuing tickets for speeds improper for conditions where appropriate.

The advisory may be lifted by the Sheriff this afternoon but also the advisory may be upgraded depending on the condition of the roads as the day
continues.   Please follow our Facebook page at LivCoSheriffs or our twitter page at LivCoSheriffs for updates.
