SPCA serving Allegany County, Hornell Humane urgently need supplies

SPCA- ALLEGANY CO
160 animals rescued! NEEDED: Good quality hay for feeding, bedding hay or straw, horse feed, sheep feed, goat feed, chicken feed, cracked corn, dairy feed, puppy food (Puppy Chow), blankets and newspapers. For people wanting to drop off directly: they are asking that all donations be taken to the new BELMONT State Route 19 location.

The old Wellsville location is serving as housing only. They have a PayPal donation link on their Facebook & website. Asked us to link it in any social media post we do. Great edible hay is their biggest need ie: They had 100 bales of hay delivered on the Fri/Sat of the huge seizure & the animals went through it all within 3-4 days.

Per Lynda with the SPCA: "we can also use Dog leashes...dog food, bowls 4-5 quart, puppy food (Puppy Chow brand), tractor supply gift cards, dog treats, “Nyla” bones, dog toys, Kong's...monetary donations help too as we had to quickly purchase many water troughs, water heaters, many tarps, cow mats, etc. Also helps pay medical bills.”

HORNELL HUMANE SOCIETY- (Finger Lakes SPCA assisting with seized animals) Took in 30+ dogs from “puppy mill”. The Director, Mary, stated that they have had many donations and seem to be doing well. They still specifically lack collars, leashes, toys, used blankets (all sizes) & adult dog food: wet=Purina One------- dry=Purina as well. They are ok on heating pads & puppy food for now HOWEVER- they anticipate long terms needs as a few of the rescued females are suspected to be pregnant. They still have 17 on site & the rest have gone to Finger Lakes SPCA.

Specifics from their original post on FB below:

Donations of puppy food, collars, blankets, large crates, or donations to our Frosty Fund (for medical care) are greatly appreciated.

On Monday January 21st, the Hornell Humane Society, the Finger Lakes SPCA, Inc., the Canisteo Dog Shelter and the Steuben County Sheriff's Office seized a total of 32 adult dogs, six puppies, and one kitten in the town of Howard. These dogs were all part of a puppy mill that ran for over 20 years.

We are thankful for all parties involved, and a special thank you to Deputy Payne, Sergeant Scott, Deputy Butler and Dr. Doucette for their vital assistance. We would like to remind the community to please say something if you see something.
