Steuben Public Health to begin weight loss programs in November

BATH – The start date for Steuben County Public Health Department’s National Diabetes Prevention Program has been pushed back to mid-November to allow for more enrollment. The effective weight-loss program for people at risk of Type II Diabetes will be offered in two locations in Bath and Hornell. Being overweight is a risk factor for pre-diabetes which can develop into Type II diabetes.
Classes meet every week for 16 weeks, then every two weeks for several months, followed by monthly meetings for the remainder of the year. The program is covered by Medicare, free for Steuben County employees, or $150 (private pay)/year. The scheduled classes are:

· Noon-1 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Nov. 13 at Steuben County Office Building, Bath.

· 6-7 p.m. Thursdays beginning Nov.15 at YMCA, Hornell.
