Horses killed in Portville barn fire

A three-alarm fire just before 4 p.m. Tuesday destroyed a barn in Portville and killed three horses. A Portville fire chief said when he arrived at the scene on Portville-Ceres Road, the structure was well involved in fire. Responding, in addition to Portville firefighters, were crews and equipment from Westons Mills, Allegany, Shinglehouse, town of Olean, Clarksville, Richburg, Eldred Township and Boro as well as Hinsdale. Firefighting operations continued for some three hours. No human injuries were reported. The cause has not yet been publically identified. The Portville Fire department issued this statement on Facebook" "Good job by everyone involved and thank you to all the mutual aid departments for your assistance!"
