The Village and the Town together have agreed that this is
in the best interest of the community. It will enable fire protection to
receive the necessary funding to maintain an adequate level of service.
This resolution is subject to a permissive referendum. There
would need to be a petition filed successfully with the town clerk to send this
to public vote.
The original timeline has the Fire District being up and
operational by January 1st 2021. IF A PETITION IS SIGNED THIS TIMELINE WILL NOT
BE POSSIBLE. If it is signed and filed successfully that means another year of
fire protection being inadequately funded. IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF YOUR
FIRE PROTECTION TO HAVE THE DISTRICT OPERATIONAL BY JANUARY 1ST 2021.
