Acceptance of Insurance Recovery Check

Clerk of the Board Brenda Rigby Riehle requested a resolution accepting a check in the amount of $3,141.52 from the New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal (NYMIR) representing the cost, less a $200 deductible, to repair a 2018 Ford Explorer (VIN #1FM5K8AR8JGB19429) (Lease Vehicle #AC0027) assigned to the Sheriff’s Office that was involved in a motor vehicle/deer accident on November 8, 2019, at 11:25 p.m. The funds should be appropriated to CS1931.429 (Risk Retention – Uninsured Property Loss) with a like sum placed in revenue account CS1930.2680.00 (Insurance Recovery). The request was approved on a motion by Legislator Root, seconded by Legislator Healy, and carried. Prepare Resolution

Legislator Dave Decker questioned what we were doing out on the road at 11:25 p.m. Legislator Dwight Fanton suggested that perhaps the Deputy was serving a summons. It was noted that the paperwork said they were out on patrol and Legislator Philip Curran asserted that we don’t have a road patrol. After committee members went through the referrals from other committees, they revisited this issue as the Sheriff was then in attendance at the meeting. Sheriff Rick Whitney stated that he assumes that the Deputy was out serving papers, and that particular shift is referred to as C-line and works from 4:00 p.m. to midnight.
