New protocols coming for police and opioid overdoses

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. will hold a news conference at 2:30 p.m. today to discuss new protocols for law enforcement officers who respond to the scene of a fatal or non-fatal opioid overdose. These locations will now be treated as the scene of homicide or other violent crime. Kennedy will be joined by Erie County District Attorney John Flynn, Daniel Rinaldo with New York-New Jersey HIDTA, and the Cheektowaga Police Department.  
The press conference will be held at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 138 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY, 14202.
