Allegany County Trap, Neuter, Return receives microchip scanner

Allegany County Trap, Neuter, Return recently received a generous donation of a microchip scanner. New York State passed a law that requires all animal rescues and shelters to scan companion animals admitted through their organizations. This law requires the standardization of technology used in microchips implanted into companion animals; requires the examination of rescued companion animals; and requires such facilities to notify owners if they are in possession of an animal they believe to be missing.

All cats trapped through our organization will now be scanned and every attempt to return a chipped cat to the rightful owner will be made.
