Livingston County: Felony Level Arrest for Alleged Predatory Sexual Assault Against Child

LEICESTER - Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Leicester NY resident on felony sexual assault charges after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
On August 31, 2020 Sheriff’s Investigators arrested and charged 32-year-old Christopher L. Wilmet with Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (a class A-II felony), Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the 1st Degree (a class B felony), and Rape in the 1st Degree (a class B felony).

Wilmet was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention as the offenses did qualify for pre-arraignment detention under the NYS Justice Reform Act. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level offenses, it was recommended that Wilmet be held without the chance of bail due to fact the one of the charges was an A-II felony and that Wilmet has multiple previous felony level convictions.
Wilmet was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Nunda Justice Emily Stoufer. The Judge remanded him to jail without bail.
