Allegany County food carts - getting back to normal

With Phase Two, people are already lining up at outdoor food carts
Lines formed quickly close to noon when Mama’s Smokin’ BBQ food carts opened in the Dollar General parking lot on west Dyke Street.
The food carts are a well-loved addition to Wellsville’s restaurants row during the summer months and were sadly missed  when they failed to open. Last year, the main restaurant was restarting after a fire which had destroyed the building the previous fall.
The food carts opened this week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving hotdogs, sausages, beverages and more. Thursday is Taco Thursday, so the lines are longer with everything from village of Wellsville trucks to pickups hauling travel trailers pulling in.
Proprietor Mike Edwards says he’s glad to be back and is pleased to see the crowds.
“We’re opening from 10 a.m.  to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Friday for now and we may change the hours if people keep showing up," he said.
Masks and social distancing are still being required, but as the county moves into Phase Two of the reopening, Edwards was quick to note the at the main restaurant in Shongo they have outdoor seating open as of Thursday.
