Hattie was well known for her still life paintings in oil,
watercolor, and pastels. Her works were awarded at the Wellsville Art
Association and many local shows. Hattie was passionate about art and shared
her love with many area residents who learned to appreciate art at the after
school lessons at Hattie’s. She also
had a passion for local history and she served as the past vice-president and
long-time trustee of the Andover Historical Society, and a member of the
Baker’s Bridge Historical Association and the Allegany County Historical
Society. We were saddened to lose
Hattie earlier this year, but her daughters Karol Gavin Marciano, Kathleen
Kent, Mary Kay Cavanaugh and Cecilia Lynch graciously agreed to share her
paintings with us for this show.
