State police report the arrest of David E. Smith, 35, of
5394 Allison Lane in Bath. The arrest
followed a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Police, Steuben
County Children Protective Services and Schuyler County Children Protective
Services. It is alleged that Smith had
inappropriate sexual relationships with two unrelated minor children ages
fifteen and twelve, while in the Bath, N.Y area. Smith was charged with
Criminal Sex Act first degree (B-Felony), Attempted Criminal Sex Act first
degree (C-Felony), 2 counts of Sex Abuse first degree (D-Felony), Criminal Sex
Act second degree (D Felony), Criminal Sex Act third degree (E- Felony), Forcible
Touching (A- Misdemeanor), and ten counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child
(A- Misdemeanor). He was arraigned in the Town of Bath Court and remanded to
the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail $50,000 property bond.
