Marjorie S. Austin, 91, of 27 Champlain Ave., Cuba, passed
away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care
Unit after a short illness. Born on July 19, 1926, in Cuba, she was a daughter
of Bartholomew and Ruth Appleton Sheehan.
On October 21, 1950, in Cuba, she married her husband of 67 years,
Harold F. Austin who survives.
She was a graduate of Cuba Central School and St James
School of Nursing in Hornell. She was employed at Cuba Memorial Hospital as a
Registered Nurse retiring in 1987. Mrs.
Austin was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church in Cuba, Cuba Historical
Society, Cuba American Legion Post 655 Auxiliary, and a former member of the
Cuba Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Surviving besides her husband are 3 daughters,
M. Kathhleen (Claude) Brown, Carol Stream, IL, Sue Culbert of Cuba and Jill
(Thomas) Criz of Venetia, PA; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Austin of Cuba; her
grandchildren Jacob, Nathan, John-O, Cassie, Bridget, Chad, Colleen, Blair,
Margaret, and Austin; her greatgrandchildren, Sophia,
Anthony, Carly, Liam, and Evelyn; Several
Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son
Philip J. Austin on August 31, 2016, two brothers Robert and Bernard, and a son
in law John O. Culbert on June 3, 2014. The family will receive friends at the
Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, 9 Bull Street, Cuba on
Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. only.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 7,
2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Church, 50 South Street, Cuba. The Rev. John Cornelius, will be the
celebrant. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba. Memorials may be made to the Allegany County
