Wellsville: Gamache to resign from town board, United Way

Bryan Gamache confirmed this morning that he’ll be resigning from the Wellsville Town Board when it meets in special session this evening at 6:30 p.m. Gamache said the resignation will become effective June 30th. He stated that he has accepted a new position with the New York State Department of Transportation in Hornell as an Analyst. Gamache, who is also the Executive Director for the Allegany County United Way, will be resigning from that post as of July 7th. He begins his new duties with the DOT on July 17th.
Gamache, who began his service with the town board on January 1, 2016, said he was proud of some accomplishments with the local government. He said the tax rate has decreased, marketing has increased at the Wellsville Airport and the Board is moving in a positive direction.  He added, “it’s exciting, yet sad to be leaving.”
Gamache, originally from the Hudson Valley, moved to Allegany County four years ago. He said since then, he has been very active in different capacities to promote the county and help it grow.
The town board this evening will discuss filling the soon to be empty seat. No action can be taken today, because the seat won’t be vacant until Friday. The new appointee will only serve until January and would have to run in November to serve out the remainder of Gamache’s term of office.
