Wellsville
State Champions Recognized by Allegany County
Wellsville
Central School’s State Champions in softball and shotput were recently honored
for their extraordinary athletic achievements in 2024. At a September meeting
of the Allegany County Legislature, the Board welcomed both the softball team
and shot-put Champion Kaylee Oswald to recognize their achievements and offer
its congratulations and appreciation.
Oswald, a
senior at Wellsville C.S., is now a two-time State Champion in girls shotput.
Her winning throw of 44 feet 4.75 inches not only won her the state title but
also broke the Wellsville school record.
Also honored
was the 2024 Wellsville C.S. Varsity Softball team, which brought home a state
title of their own in June. Their 7-1
victory over Schuylerville High School secured the first ever Class B state
title for Wellsville and was the culmination of an incredible 23-1 season.
In remarks to
the athletes, Board Chairman W. Brooke Harris congratulated them on their
efforts and dedication. “The Board is proud of your achievements, and we thank
you for representing Wellsville and Allegany County so well. We commend you for
your hard work and commitment to athletic excellence and sportsmanship. I can’t
wait to hear about your future successes. Congratulations!”
