Dr. Makhdom to lead OGH community breakfast program

Olean General Hospital will present “Current advances in the treatment of knee and hip arthritis” April 16 at OGH’s education center.
The presentation is part of the OGH’s Community Breakfast series. Presentations are free and open to the public. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. with the presentation from 8:15 to 9 a.m. Seating is limited. To make reservations, contact Janene Dunn, 716-375-6974, jdunn@uahs.org.
Asim Makhdom, MD, orthopedic surgeon, will offer insight into managing joint problems and the latest treatment methods. Dr. Makhdom is the only orthopedic surgeon in the area to perform anterior total tip replacement which is less invasive and decreases healing time for patients. He also performs partial and total knee replacements, revision hip and knee replacements, adult and pediatric trauma surgery, knee arthroscopy for meniscus injuries or cruciate ligament reconstruction, bow legs and knocked knee correction, leg limb discrepancy correction, reconstruction surgery for complex bone nonunions or malunions, bunion and carpal tunnel surgery.
He completed an orthopedic residency at McGill University and fellowships at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (hip and knee arthroplasty) and Hospital of Special Surgery, Cornell University (complex bone conditions and reconstructive and deformity corrections). A member of the Foothills Medical Group staff, Dr. Makhdom currently sees patients at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
