Bradford, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today it has closed a bridge spanning the East Branch of Tunungwant Creek on Route 4002 (Owens Way) in the city of Bradford, McKean County.
Crews completing roadway improvements in the Bradford area recently milled the asphalt from this bridge and found the deck surface in need of repair. The repairs are expected to be complete by early November, but PennDOT will lift the closure earlier if work progress allows. The bridge surface will be paved following completion of the deck repairs if weather conditions permit.
During the closure, traffic will follow a detour using Route 219, Route 770 (Minard Road), Route 4005 (High Street), and Route 4002 (Owens Way). The length of the detour is 2.6 miles.
The 128-foot bridge was constructed in 1948 and carries and average of nearly 2,000 vehicles per day.
