Born in Machias, NY, June 20, 1930, the son of Gordon and Clara (Norton) Patterson, he had resided in Hornell most of his life. Bob was a former member of the I.O.O.F Lodge in Hornell, the Rebekah’s, the AMVETS as well as the VFW. He was an avid baseball fan; he always followed the New York Yankees. On August 25, 1979 he married the former Lillian Moore who survives.
He was predeceased by his parents, and 2 sisters; Phyllis Stratton and Joyce Nichols.
He is survived by his wife Lillian of Hornell, 4 sons; William (Rose) Patterson of Florida, James Patterson of Hornell, Robert Patterson II of Illinois and Robert Patterson III of Almond, 3 daughters; Patricia (George) Potter of Alaska, Pamela Henry of California and Betty Joe (Robert) Potter of Cameron, his stepchildren; Deborah Bacon of Hornell, Wendell (Cecil) Jones of Birdsall, Mary Jones of Hornell, Bradley Jones of Hornell, Rhoda Jones of Wyoming and Glen Jones of Hornell, 2 brothers; Gordon and Scott Patterson, 1 sister; Betty Hamilton of Hornell as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family will be present from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will be held immediately following calling hours at 4 p.m., Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
