Frances A. Dean:
Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother
Frances A. Dean, 90, of 7796 Rte. 417, Bolivar, passed away
peacefully Saturday, May 17, 2025 at home with her daughter by her side.
Born on October 7, 1934, in Shinglehouse, she was the
daughter of the late Otto and Leona Martin Sturdevant. On September 27, 1953, in Oswayo, she married
Robert J. Dean of Allentown and together they shared the next 70 years
together. Bob predeceased her in
February 2024.
Fran was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School. She joined the workforce at Bausch and Lomb,
where she met Bob. Together, they owned
and operated Bob’s Auto Body Shop for more than 50 years until their retirement
in 2020.
Fran also worked for many years at Industrial Patterns in
Bolivar and thoroughly enjoyed her time with the Torrey family. She then became the director of the Bolivar
Free Library, which was a job that suited her well. She loved to read and talk about books with
the patrons.
More than anything, Fran enjoyed being with her family and
friends. She attended all the sporting
events of her children and grandchildren that she could and always welcomed all
to her home for holidays. She hosted
many parties for her friends and planned an open house every year at Christmas
so they could all be together. Bob and
Fran enjoyed travelling together to Maine, Massachusetts, and Lake George for
the tow shows. Fran loved being near the
ocean or lake on a quiet vacation.
Fran was a member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church,
and Star of the East Chapter 109 in Bolivar.
She is survived by a son, Scott (Penny) Dean of Bolivar; a daughter Amanda
(William) McDonnell of Bolivar;
Her Grandchildren, Dustin, Morgan, Matthew, Aleck and her great grandchildren
Aidan, Kaleigh, and Danika; a brother Don (Pudge) Sturdevant of Shinglehouse; Nephews
Don (Bonnie) Sturdevant and Brett (Dodie) Sturdevant; Close friends Skip and
Linda Benjamin, Bill and Sue Griggs And “Her Girls” Dianne, Dawn, Susan, Judy, Lorraine and
Margaret.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc, 554 South Main Street, Bolivar, NY, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 3-7 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. David Herne, will officiate. Arrangements are under direction of the Mark F.
