There have been multiple reports taken of attempted fraud in Wyoming County. Victims have reported that someone contacts them by phone and poses as a member of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect claims there are warrants signed by current officials for the victims arrest. The suspects are then requesting “fines to be paid” in order to clear up the warrants. They are very pressing on getting the fines paid immediately and are threatening to come to places of employment to make the arrest. The suspects have very detailed information that appear legitimate. Please do not pay anyone money over the phone or in person. Any fines owed would be paid at court. Please contact the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office if you receive anything like this.
