Christmas night fire damages Alfred home

Alfred – A Christmas night fire damaged a home in the village of Alfred. The 911 calls starting coming in at 11:23 p.m. sending Alfred fire and ambulance to 101 North Main Street, across from McClean Center. Within sixty seconds, University Police arrived and reported “heavy smoke and flames.” One report indicated the fire was focused on the first floor. As the flames continued, more help was called in from Alfred Station, Almond, Andover, Wellsville and FAST TEAM 3. Just before midnight, fire investigators were called to the scene.

According to Allegany County records, the home is an old style four-bedroom structure with a full market value of $144,800. Records show the owner is listed as Pamela Bucher of that address.

Thursday morning (10:40 a.m.), police and code enforcement were at the scene. No cause has been released.
