Court upholds Livingston County murder conviction
A 59-year-old man, convicted in 2022 of killing his roommate
will continue to serve his sentence of 20 years to life in state prison. Steven
J. Adams of Caledonia also had his tampering with physical evidence conviction
upheld.
In a three-page decision released Friday afternoon, the
Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department wrote “It is hereby ORDERED that
the judgment so appealed from is unanimously affirmed.” He is eligible for
parole on January 19, 2042. The shooting victim was identified as 64-year-old
Dale S. Ryerse.
The Court concluded, “we reject defendant’s contention that
the sentence is unduly harsh and severe.”
Adams is serving his sentence at Clinton Correctional.
