Fillmore man faces multiple felony counts after arrest in Livingston County

NUNDA - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of an Allegany County resident on felony charges following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. On January 20th 2024, at about 9:00 pm, Deputy Michael Donals, who is assigned to the Sheriff’s Office STOP DWI Unit, conducted a traffic stop on State Route 70 in the Town of Nunda for a violation of vehicle and traffic law. The Deputy Sheriff spoke with the operator of the vehicle, who was identified as Kameran Olcott, age 25 from Fillmore, NY. During the encounter, the Deputy suspected that Olcott was under the influence of alcohol and initiated a DWI investigation, which included the performance of standardized field sobriety tests. Following the roadside investigation, Olcott was placed in custody for DWI. A records check later revealed that Olcott had a previous conviction for Driving While Intoxicated in 2019, making this arrest a felony. Olcott was then placed into a Sheriff’s Office Patrol Vehicle, where he became combative and began to strike his head on the inside of the vehicle. It is alleged that Olcott also intentionally damaged the inside of the vehicle, creating additional charges. Due to injuring himself, Olcott was then transported to an area hospital to be treated and evaluated where he was medically released a short time later. Olcott was charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated, felony Criminal Mischief in the Third degree, as well as additional violations of the NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law. Olcott was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that Olcott be released on his own recognizance, as the charges do not qualify for bail under the NYS Justice Reform Act. Olcott was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Justice Finnigan. The Judge did release Olcott to return to Court at a later date. The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Olcott at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified and appeared to represent the People.
