December 4, 2020—Olean—The first meeting of the City of Olean Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative was held on December 3, 2020 at 6:30 via Zoom. A recording of the meeting will be available on You Tube on Friday, December 4, 2020.
The Collaborative was a result of a June 12, 2020 Executive Order signed by Governor Cuomo which required each local government in New York State to adopt a policing reform plan by April 1, 2021. Review the needs of the community which the Olean Police Department serves, and evaluate the Police Department’s current policies and practices;
Establish policies that allow police to effectively and safely perform their duties;
Involve the entire community in the discussion;
Develop policy recommendations resulting from this review;
Offer a plan for comment;
Present the plan to the local legislative body to ratify or adopt it, and;
Certify adoption of the plan to the State Budget Director on or before April 1, 2021.
Members of the Committee are: Mayor William Aiello, JR Bennion, Daryll Bloom, Barry Broughton, Greg Carey, Kevin Dougherty, Mickey George, Tyrone Hall, Ann Kivari, Ty Malone, Dan McGraw, Mike Marsfelder, Della Moore, Rick Moore, Darren Padgett, Jr., Lori Rieman, Vernon Robinson, Jr., Jeff Rowley, Kim Rossi, Paul Sungenis, Kevin Watkins, Kenneth Wright, and Karen Young.
