But even though the chill in the air indicated that summer
is coming to an end, the show must go on according to organizers.
“It is a great way to utilize the library lawn and give
something to the people that they aren’t getting in less they travel to a
drive-in,” one noted.
This was the third offering in the schedule and plans are in
the works to have additional movies, maybe even beyond the start of school
scheduled for Sept. 14.
“This is the first adult type movie that we’ve had. We
haven’t made any decisions yet what other movies we’ll show. We have to talk
about it,” the library representative said.
Since the start of the Covid-19 shutdown movie theaters have
been closed and there has been no indication from the Governor as to when they
will be allowed to reopen. Drive-in theaters in Perry and Portville have opened
on a limited basis offering vintage movies and concerts to enhance the visits.
The DAH Library receives a yearly grant which it normally
uses to show movies to children and adults in the auditorium, but the auditorium
and the inside of the library are not accessible at this point. Curb-side
pickup and online or telephone ordering of books or materials has been
instituted and story hour, book clubs and craft programs are offered outside on
the front terrace. The library is also utilizing virtual programming. Call
