Wellsville: Village Board offers meeting space to town
Mayor Randy Shayler
The Wellsville Village Government offices recently moved to 23 North Main Street and by the end of next month, the town office will also depart the Municipal Building for a temporary (up to two years) location at the town-owned Wellsville Municipal Airport. During Monday night's village board meeting, Village Trustee Mike Roeske, the town board liaison, suggested to his colleagues that the village allow the town to use the village meeting space at 23 North Main Street. The village board agreed to the motion in a 5-0 vote. The mayor praised Roeske for the notion. Roeske will formally present the opportunity to the town during its year-end meeting December 30th.
Town Supervisor Shad Alsworth
When contacted with the news, Town Supervisor Shad Alsworth called it "awesome news." He said he was proud of Roeske, the Mayor and the village board for extending the offer. Although supporting the temporary relocation to the Airport, Alsworth said the offer will provide easy access to more elderly residents to attend meetings, should they choose. The Supervisor said he "would welcome the opportunity" and he called it a great display of cooperation.
