Melvin L. LOWREY, 80, of Gaines, PA, died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in his home. Born August 13, 1939, in Blossburg, he was the son of Sabin C. and Daisy Shelly Lowrey. A US Army Veteran, he served honorably from 1958 – 1961. On February 24, 1990, in Knoxville, he married the former Audrey D. Stevens, who survives. He was employed as a cable television technician by the Sabinsville and Gaines/Watrous TV associations. He also was employed by Corning Glass Works, Jerry Eckert Construction, Pagano Construction, and Truck-Lite in Wellsboro, retiring in 2003. Melvin was a member of the Galeton Moose, Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses, and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers. Surviving besides his wife, Audrey, are: six children, Don (Irene) Lowrey of Evington, VA, Melvin Lowrey of San Angelo, TX, Nancy (Sidney) Brunson of Snyder, TX, Robert (Veronica) Lowrey of Moorefield, OH, Michael (Amber) Lowrey of Palm Coast, FL, and James (Emily) Lowrey of Cartersville, GA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Frank (Dawn) Taft, Jr. of Dry Prong, LA and Lowell Howard (Tina) Taft of Gaines; a sister, Louise Alexander of Sabinsville; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM. The Rev. David R. Brelo will officiate. Burial will be in Parker Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.
