According to Syracuse.com, an application to hold the
festival at Vernon Downs in mid-August was denied.
The town attorney tells them the permit was filed too late
and was "dramatically incomplete."
The track emerged as a possible festival site after the
original venue, Watkins Glen International, pulled out last month.
The festival has faced other setbacks, including the losses
of a financial partner and a production company.
Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol says holding the festival
at a horse track on short notice could be a safety risk.
Maciol was among the local officials and residents
expressing concerns about the upstate track and casino hosting the anniversary
festival Aug. 16-18.
