Allegany County: Grand jury indicts two in connection with heroin overdose death

An Allegany County grand jury has indicted two people in connection with the heroin overdose death in March of Zachary Whitcher of Bolivar. According to a press statement from the District Attorney's office, 32-year-old Jessica Sprague of Clarksville was charged with manslaughter, multiple counts of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, child endangerment and making a false statement. The grand jury also indicted 37-year-old Mark Crainer of Bolivar, charging him with tampering with physical evidence and making a false statement to state police. Prosecutors allege that Sprague sold the heroin that caused the death at her home, with children present. She then allegedly concealed a cell phone that contained evidence.
The grand jury also indicted 36-year-old George Brown of Cuba with criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. The District Attorney's Office said all three are currently free on bail. No arraignment date on the charges has been set.
