Steuben County Probationer Compliance Check
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on May 23rd, 2019, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Officers of the Steuben County Department of Probation, Troopers of the New York State Police and Officers of the Village of Bath Police Department conducted 82 probation compliance checks, verifying that probationers were in compliance with their court issued directives for probation.
As a result of these compliance checks, six probationers were remanded to the Steuben County Jail as allegedly violating the terms or conditions of their probation:
-Jonathan R. Wood, age 25, of Sullivan Lane in Campbell, New York, was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on a Violation of Probation. Mr. Wood was allegedly under the influence of a narcotic and in possession of syringes, other drug-related paraphernalia, and illegal weapons.
-Nancy A. Dougherty, age 61, of State Route 36 in Arkport, New York, was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on a Violation of Probation. Ms. Dougherty was allegedly under the influence of alcohol in violation of her conditions of probation.
-Charles J. King, age 40, of East Naples Street in Wayland, New York, was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on a Violation of Probation. Mr. King was allegedly under the influence of alcohol in violation of his conditions of probation.
-James L. McGonigal Jr., age 58, of Hittown Road in Pine City, New York, was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on a Violation of Probation. Mr. McGonigal was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and in possession of weapons in violation of his conditions of probation.
-Gilbert J. Harris, age 40, of River Street, Hornell, New York, was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on a Violation of Probation. Mr. King was allegedly under the influence of alcohol in violation of his conditions of probation.
-Joseph R. Bennett Jr., age 32, of Liberty Street in Bath, New York, was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on a Violation of Probation. Mr. Bennett was allegedly under the influence of narcotics in violation of his conditions of probation.
Resultant of the compliance checks, three probation warrants were also executed:
-Jonathan M. Aloi, age 43, of Lewis Road in Campbell, New York was taken into custody on a Violation of Probation warrant issued by the Addison Town Court and was remanded to the Steuben County Jail.
-Eric M. Manners, age 56, of Michigan Road in Wayland, New York, was taken into custody on a Violation of Probation warrant issued by the Steuben County Court and was remanded to the Steuben County Jail.
-Michael F. Speciale, Jr., age 42, of Thurber Road, Corning, New York, was taken into custody on a Violation of Probation warrant issued by the Steuben County Court and was remanded to the Steuben County Jail.
Contraband was seized during several home visits, and several additional Violations of Probation are expected to be filed against other individuals in local justice courts in the coming days.
