Homicide charge filed in Wellsville heroin death


Bail has been set at $50,000 cash for a Cuba man accused of supplying heroin that led to the overdose death of a man from South Main Street in Wellsville on February 28th. State police criminal investigator Jed Murphy told Wellsville Regional News exclusively tonight that he just arrested George R. Brown, 36, of State Route 305  in Cuba. Brown was charged with criminally negligent homicide and 3rd degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in town of Friendship court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail on cash bail or $100,000 bond. According to Investigator Murphy, Brown allegedly sold the victim the heroin on the day of the overdose. Murphy added that Brown is "known to law enforcement." State police partnered with Wellsville Police Lt. Josh Kear on the investigation. Cuba police and the District Attorney's office also assisted.
