On January 30th, 2019, the NY Housing Association will be
presenting the 6-Hour Mechanics Certification Course and exam in Belmont, NY
from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. This certification will allow individuals and contracting
businesses to install, service, and maintain manufactured housing units, which
include mobile homes, trailers, double-wide trailers, and modular homes. The
cost of this certification and exam is $225/person (or $195 if a member of the
NY Housing Association) and will be good for two years.
This certification is important for our area because
according to the US Census Bureau’s American FactFinder, there are over 3,800
manufactured housing units in Allegany County. There is a lack of businesses
around that are certified to service, maintain, and/or rehabilitate these
properties. This certification will help contractors obtain new business and
can potentially help combat blight and lead to improved property values.
