ALMOND - Richard A. Hamlin, 89, of Ryan Road, passed away Thursday (November 1, 2018) at the Wellsville Manor.
Born in North Hornell, July 4, 1929, the son of Clinton Arthur and Gertrude (Dungan) Hamlin, he was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Alfred Almond Central School “Class of 1948”.
He was retired from the NYSDOT in Hornell after 36 years, and later went on to work at Brown Sawmill in Alfred Station. Richard had attended the Almond Union of Churches, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, keeping an immaculate lawn, and making handmade rugs with his wife Phyllis.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Phyllis Gavitt Hamilin on December 29, 2010, whom he married on December 31, 1971, his step son Gary Robinson, son in law Jim Travis, and his brother Milton Hamlin.
He is survived by his children Karen (Mark) Ringelberg, Kathy (Michael) Klingle, Richard Hamlin, Gary (Toni) Hamlin, David Hamlin, Michelle Travis, Marcia Briggs, his sister in law Patricia Hamlin, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday (November 6, 2018) at 11:00 a.m. at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, with the Rev. Steve Dygert officiating.
