Wellsville: Charges filed in Andover Road head-on crash

State police have filed charges against an Avoca man following a head-on crash Monday at 7:27 a.m. involving a pickup truck and tractor trailer on Andover Road in the town of Wellsville. According to an Amity-based Zone Sergeant, Joshua Allen Ruest, 22, of Avoca was driving the rig when he allegedly crossed the center line and struck an oncoming pickup truck head-on. The driver of the pickup was identified by troopers as Sean M. Haggerty, 41, of Wellsville. Haggerty was later transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for extended treatment. Troopers charged Ruest with failure to keep right and failure to maintain lane. He'll respond to the charges in town of Wellsville court at a later date. Wellsville fire, EMS and Rescue all responded to the scene. The state highway was closed for a period of time.
