Wellsville: Shortcut off Gabby Hayes Lane to close for good Monday as 23 North project heats up
A shortcut off Gabby Hayes Lane to West State Street in Wellsville will officially close for good on Monday September 24th. As a refresher, that road is the short street behind Pizza King.
The closure comes after the 23 North building (formerly Burrous) is now officially under new ownership. The property sale closed last Thursday. The keys have been turned over to Two Plus Four Construction in partnership with Alfred Housing Committee (AHC). AHC Executive Director Allison Green said this morning the crews hope to begin construction work by the end of the month. The first goal is to take care of the building exterior before winter weather arrives. Green said the elevator controlled second and third floors of 23 North will include 16 apartments for those age 55 and older. The ground floor will become the new home for the village of Wellsville government offices. Green said she is hopeful that "doors will open" for the apartments by October 2019.
