ALFRED STATION - Harold
G. Eddy, 91, of Terbury Road, passed away Sunday evening (August 26, 2018) at
home.
Born in Brooklyn, NY,
May 6, 1927, the son of John and Amelia (Moulton) Eddy, he had resided in the
Allegany County area since he was 17 years old. During World War II Harold
moved from Newfoundland, Canada to assist local farmers while locals were
deployed. Harold retired from Buffalo Crushed Stone in Alfred Station and also
owned his own lumber company, “Eddy Lumber Company” in Alfred Station. In 1946
Harold married the former Mary E. Brown who predeceased him on October 8, 2014.
He was predeceased by
his parents, a daughter, Sally Sayer, a granddaughter Lisa, 2 great
grandchildren, Joseph and Jedrek, 2 brothers, Jim and Jack Eddy and 1 sister,
June Tucker.
He is survived by his
daughters; Juanita Shaffer of Wayland, Ruth (Alan) Aultman of Alfred Station,
Rose (Paul) Landis of Georgia and Ellen (Larry) Lamphier of Wellsville, sons:
John (Marilyn) Eddy of Alfred Station, George (Lynn) Eddy of Belmont, Martin (Kathleen)
Eddy of Alfred Station and Bill (Arlene) Eddy of Belmont, a son-in-law; Bob
Sayer of Lima, 31 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 1
great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Una Mullins of Newfoundland and Arlene
Vestal of Chicago Ill., a brother-in-law; Phillip Brown of Alfred Station, a
sister-in-law; Judy Eddy of Ottawa, Canada as well as numerous nieces, nephews
and cousins.

The family will be
present on Monday (Sept. 3, 2018) from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. , at the Bender - Brown
& Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will be
held at the Alfred Union University Church on Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2018) at 10:30
a.m. Rev. Laurie DeMott officiating. Burial will be in Alfred Rural Cemetery,
Alfred.
