Two Steuben County residents arrested during traffic stop in Wyoming County

Two Steuben County residents were arrested following a traffic stop Wednesday on State Route 63 in the Town of Covington.  Marion Conley, 43 of Hornell, was pulled over for a cell phone infraction, and during the stop Conley, along with her passenger John R. Cook, Jr., 50 of Bath, was allegedly found to possess seventeen cartons of unstamped cigarettes and an illegal billy club.  Wyoming County deputies say the maximum unstamped cigarettes allowed are two cartons per person.  Cook was also found to be on NYS Parole.

Conley was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Unlawful Possession of Unstamped Cigarettes, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using a Mobile Phone, and Failed to Notify DMV of Address Change.  Cook was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree and Unlawful Possession of Unstamped Cigarettes.  Both suspects were released after being processed at the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, and they are scheduled to answer their charges in the Town of Covington Court on August 13, 2018.
