Shinglehouse man seriously injured in motorcycle crash
A Shinglehouse man sustained apparent serious injuries when the Harley Davidson he was operating collided with an SUV on Route 44 at Bells Run Road in Ceres Township. The crash, which was reported at 9:44 a.m. Saturday, injured Alan N. Welch, 44, of Shinglehouse. Trooper Jeremy Allen said Welch suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Erie County Medical center in Buffalo. State police said Welch was northbound, following a vehicle operated by Melissa L. Amidon, 34, of Shinglehouse. Amidon signaled and was preparing to turn left once traffic cleared. Troopers said as she started to turn, Welch struck the SUV in the driver's door. Police said he was wearing a helmet. Amidon wasn't injured but two female passengers, ages 12 and 13, were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Troopers charged Welch with following too closely. Shinglehouse fire and ambulance assisted at the scene.
