"Disruptive" student sends Wellsville school on lockdown
A shelter in place order was issued at about 12:30 p.m. today after a 16-year-old boy became violent and disruptive at the Wellsville Secondary school on West State Street. Police chief Timothy O'Grady said the high school student was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after he was "not cooperating with administration officials." The student was released to his parents. O'Grady said the school was in lockdown "for about 20 minutes." Patrol officers were able to quickly locate the irate student and placed him in custody. O'Grady described the student as "angry and violent." Police said there were no weapons involved. Shelter in place orders are not that common in Wellsville, but O'Grady said "it's becoming the norm."
